Coast Guard Festival – August 2025

I was truly impressed with the love Grand Haven has for the Coast Guard. What started as a picnic in 1924, has grown into a ten-day festival that draws more than 350,000 people! Dale and I enjoyed spending a few hours there on August 2.

We got to tour the USCGC MACKINAW during the Coast Guard Festival in Grand Haven.

It was so fun to attend the Coast Guard Festival in Grand Haven. That town loves the Coast Guard.

Grand Haven has been honoring the Coast Guard with a festival for more than 100 years.

There was a huge market at the Coast Guard Festival.

This man looks like a statue. It's crazy he can stand so still.

This piece of wood has the entire Gospel of John engraved on it. It's a bench being sold at the festival.

A unique parade entry. I guess they are all named Rosie.

The officers of the nearby correctional facility marched in the parade and they were squared away. The guy calling cadence sounds like a former Marine.

This was the best of about four bands in the parade. They are all home schoolers and they had great uniforms, fun music and a little dance in their step!
