Mackinac Island – July 2025

We visited Mackinac Island during our Upper Peninsula driving tour. We spent almost seven hours there and only saw a small fraction of its beauty. No cars allowed on the island.

Shepler's ferry goes to Mackinac Island every thirty minutes.

This Model 1841 six-pound smoothbore cannon was cleaned, loaded, and fired, several times during our visit.

Throughout the day there were various live demonstrations including firing rifles, cannons and drill.

This soldier gave us a tour of all the main aspects of the fort. He was well informed.

Dale and I had lunch at Fort Mackinac's Tea Room. The view was amazing. The weather was perfect. It was a wonderful day.

Inside this building are rooms that are decorated to the period when they were in use. On the backside of this building is a little restaurant that overlooks the harbor.

We were not allowed on the porch of the Grand Hotel without paying a fee! So, we didn't go on the porch.
