QuikTrip: Buzzards Roost Trail

Mondays have turned in to our hiking days. Shortly after Dale gets off work we go to a trail that is not too far away that will give us the biggest return for our effort. Buzzards Roost was just such a trail. It’s less than 10 miles away and the views were even better than expected.

AllTrails warned us about some initial elevation gain, but it wasn’t bad. The trail was mostly rocky with few sections of level ground. When we arrived at the top of Buzzards Roost, we took in the amazing views of the canyon, which had been carved out by Rapid Creek.

This trail is in the Black Hills National Forest. We are surrounded by the Black Hills and I love it. We could probably stay here for a year and not exhaust the outdoor opportunities hidden throughout.
