Driving Down Michigan’s Coast – July 2025

The last leg of our Upper Peninsula drive was from Mackinac Island to Grand Rapids. We stayed a night in Traverse City, visited Sleeping Bear Dunes National Seashore and the Life-saving Station, stopped by a lot of lighthouses and much more. It was such fun.

This sweet little covered bridge was at the beginning of the Brockway Mountain Drive on the Keweenaw Peninsula.

Sleeping Bear Point Life Saving Station was constructed in 1901 and is now part of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park.

Dale is at the helm! Sleeping Bear Point Life Saving Station had some interesting displays in the building that use to be the residence.

This park has more than 500 campsites! There were tons of people.

We kept our setup at Interlochen simple. We expected rain, so we also used a tarp.

Point Betsie Lighthouse is on the shore of Lake Michigan near Frankfort.

The Frankfort Light is in the harbor of Frankfort, Michigan. We stopped by here on Sunday.

Built in 1874, the Little Sable Lighthouse has 130 steps to the top.
