Independence Day 2025 Activities – July 2025

Dale had July 4 off so we planned a full day of events which actually started the evening before at Mount Rushmore. We attended a special event with the Air Force Band and we even saw Vice President Vance and his family there. The following day we had breakfast at Colonial House Diner, went to Deadwood for a quick history tour, attended the Black Hills Roundup Rodeo in in Belle Fourche, stopped by a veterans cemetery and finished by watching fireworks from our bedroom window.

There are plenty of shops, restaurants and casinos in Deadwood.

The Bullock Hotel was built by Seth Bullock, an early sheriff of Deadwood,

The actual costume John Wayne wore in the movie, "The Cowboys" and a couple of other movies.

For $30 a person, you can ride in a stagecoach.

There are reenactments in Deadwood a few times a day.

Bull riding competition is an exciting event. This is a very patriotic scene.

Watch out rodeo clown!

The Black Hills Roundup is one of the oldest continuously held outdoor rodeos in America.

We stopped by a veteran's cemetery on our way home from Belle Fourche. The stormy sky against the grave markers is dramatic.
