Petrified Forest National Park – April 2023

We stopped by the Petrified Forest on our way to Utah for Moon River West. The national park is best known for its Triassic fossils. It's like having two parks in one, an ecosystem over 200 million years old with plants and animals now represented in the surreal landscape of the Painted Desert.

The Continental Divide extends from the Bering Strait to the Strait of Magellan, and separates the watersheds that drain into the Pacific Ocean from those river systems that drain into the Atlantic and Arctic Ocean, including those that drain into the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean Sea, and Hudson Bay.

On the way to Utah in 2023 we stopped at Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona.
