November in Retrospect

November is always a good month for us: Dale and I both celebrate our birthdays and our anniversary; we get to spend time with family for Thanksgiving; we decorate for Christmas; and the temperatures cool down a bit — but not much. As a matter of fact, it’s been very warm.

We started out the month in Argyle hanging out with our kids and going to the high school football game. We wanted to see our granddaughter’s halftime show since this is her last high school marching season. The photo below is at her UIL competition in San Antonio. We were not able to attend that one but I really like this photo.

Dale went to Raleigh for team meetings the second week of November. Baby and I held down the fort while he was gone.

We browsed the Georgetown Market Days. You can see baby in the photo below leading the way. We also attended our first Friendsgiving at the home of friends from church.

On Veteran’s Day we took baby to San Gabriel Park for a photoshoot. We enjoyed having J and A with us. D joined us for lunch at In and Out Burgers, where Dale and I got a free meal for being veterans!

My birthday fell on a Saturday, which was perfect for a little road trip. Dale and I went to Waco where we spent a couple of hours at Magnolia Market, then had lunch at the cafe at the Homestead Heritage Community, which is a Bible-believing church community dedicated to simple living. The weather was beautiful for a walk around the compound.

Our Church Thanksgiving meal is always a fun event. Dale and I like to serve the food. It gives us the opportunity to say hello to a lot of people.

I came down with a cold that lasted two weeks, but that didn’t stop us from attending our first A&M game on November 22. Our son-in-law, who graduated from A&M, took us on a campus tour before the game. We also got to watch the Corps parade before the game. Veterans were being honored that day, which was very cool. At half time a group of graduates were sworn in to the military by John Cornyn, and before the game we saw Emmitt Smith and his son during the senior recognition time. A very fun day.

The following day we went to the Elgin Tree Farm – another great event. We’ve enjoyed doing this most every year since we moved back to Texas in 2000. Baby had a good time and we got many great photos.

Thanksgiving Day was spent at the Matthew’s home in Sun City. We really enjoy spending holidays with them. Michelle also made a birthday cake for Dale, who turned 59 the day before. Thanksgiving Day was also our 32nd wedding anniversary!

The following day was a birthday dinner for Dale at our home. Before the month was finished I got the house decorated for Christmas, and we enjoyed pizza and a walk around the Georgetown square with the kids, on a very chilly night.
