Five Weeks With Baby

Next week starts my sixth week with baby. Overall, I would say it’s hasn’t been too difficult. She is such a good-natured baby, always ready to smile and laugh. Here are some general observations.
- She likes her bottle and is always excited when it’s time to eat and mad when it’s empty.
- She like a good TV show whether it’s serious, funny or lifestyle. (Don’t worry, everything is wholesome.)
- She like her little book that makes crinkly noises.
- She can barely tolerate the baby swing, much to my dismay.
- She doesn’t mind taking a nap and will often go to sleep if I lay her in the crib.
- She loves looking at Dale, but then again, so do I.
- She loves looking at herself in the mirror. Actually she responds happily any happy-looking face.
- If baby is tired, you can stand by. (Marine Corps terminology, for “get ready”, something not good is about to happen.)

When she first started staying with me she could barely lift her head while lying on her belly. Now she is so strong and plays for short times on her belly before rolling over to her back. She is even trying to scoot!
This new routine is definitely a change for me. I sit more often and watch TV much more. I used to never sit down until lunch, but I can’t run around the house and outside like I used to. It’s a change, but it’s not too bad. I’ll just have to make good use of my Fridays to clean the house (or blog). That’s when baby is with mom.
Recently we’ve started walking first thing in the morning for about 30 minutes. This normally puts her to sleep so I can cook breakfast. Then she eats, plays, eats, sleeps, plays, eats, plays … It’s a rough life!
I’m also spending way less time on the computer which means less blogs and such. Baby doesn’t mind sitting in my or Dale’s lap while we are on the computer but she wants to do the typing, so that doesn’t work well.
It’s so good that the Lord made this all possible.
