We Made it to South Dakota!

It’s been almost three days since we arrived to Rapid City, South Dakota. We left Argyle, Texas Saturday morning and arrived Sunday afternoon – almost 1,000 miles!

We’ve settled in to our two-bedroom apartment fairly well. Dale has not missed a beat with his work schedule and I’ve arranged everything to my liking, so we are pretty much set for the month.

Surprisingly, Rapid City has just about everything I could want. It has a traditional, somewhat historic downtown, a newer area with all the modern stores and restaurants we are used to, and within one hour in just about any direction there is a national park. Es muy bueno!

Since we’ve been here, we’ve walked all the streets around the apartment building; got groceries at Walmart and Safeway; had Jimmy John’s sandwiches, went to the Dollar Tree, had dinner at Texas Roadhouse and enjoyed a DQ Blizzard! Sounds like home, except there’s no HEB, of course. šŸ™

After work today we will be heading to Mount Rushmore for the 9pm lighting ceremony. I’m not really sure what that is, but it is our first adventure. I’m looking forward to see the stone-faced presidents. Neither of us has been here before. Dale has tomorrow off for Juneteenth, so we will be having an all-day adventure which I’m really looking forward to.
