Sahalie Falls and Clear Lake – June 2023

On Sunday afternoon we headed to Sahalie Falls and Koosah Falls, which are located along the West Cascades National Scenic Byway. It was a short but very beautiful trail. After that we went a couple of miles down the road to Clear Lake to have lunch and rent a boat. Clear Lake is a mountain lake that is primarily fed by snow runoff from nearby Mount Washington and the surrounding areas.

We followed the trail next to the river which gave us many beautiful viewpoints.

The second falls we saw just a short distance from Sahalie, is Koosah Falls.

The McKenzie River was bluer than any river I'd ever seen.

A very cool hollow log that I'd like to take home to Texas!

The area has huge pine trees, cedar trees, ferns, moss and all sorts of lush vegetation.

The trail between Sahalie Falls and Koosah Falls was so shady and nice.

Our car is parked right near the marina. God has blessed us so much with parking spaces. I cannot tell you how many times a space is waiting on us when there are so many people driving around looking for one.

Before getting our boat we had our lunch.

You can see the boathouse in the back. Our cooler actually held the drone, Go Pro and Dale's Sony. It's supposed to be waterproof and it floats...just in case.

It's not a huge lake and there are few people on it. No motors are allowed.

You can see why the lake is named Clear Lake. The water is very cold and clear.

Dale and I both took turns rowing. It was such a beautiful day and lake.

You can see the lava on the edge of the lake. After realizing we were near so many volcanoes I began to notice the lava.

I think Dale is getting a little bit of sun!
