From MacKerricher to Napa – July 2023

On Sunday, July 23 we left the campground headed to Napa. We stopped by a couple of lighthouses and enjoyed some beautiful coastal scenery.

We stopped and watched three elk grazing next to the road.

For some reason this Park Ranger looks more like a Drill Instructor.

The inside of the vehicle was a nice living area.

This very unique vehicle was on display in the Humboldt Redwoods State Park Visitor Center.

We drove for quite a whole through hairpin turns in a wooded forest and immerged at this spot on the coast.

The galvanized tub shown in this photo is just like the one I used to bath in at my grandparent's home when I was little. I also used an outhouse. They tore down that home when I was five.

Definitely an old phone!

There is a photo of this room above the fireplace that shows what this room looked like over 100 years ago. It has been restored to its original look.

The first European to record Point Arena was Spaniard Bartolomé Ferrer in 1543, who named it Cabo de Fortunas ("cape of fortunes").

Point Arena Light was first built in 1870 but destroyed by the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake even though it is 130 miles north of San Francisco. It was rebuilt in in 1908.
