Serving on the Camino de Santiago – October 2024

Dale and I spent a week serving at a hostel in the North of Spain during October 2024. The albergue is called La Fuente de Peregrino, which means the Pilgrim's Fountain. It where all pilgrims walking the Camino de Santiago can stop to find life giving water. Ten members of Central Baptist Church went.

At least twice a day our neighbor lead his cows out to the pasture, then back to the barn for milking.

Upstairs is where the pilgrims slept. Our rooms were also upstairs behind a door.

The Episcopal priest performs communion for us.

Every evening we would feed our overnight guests a delicious dinner, visit and play a game that lead them into spiritual discussion.

My granddaughter made bracelets for me to give to pilgrims. These three young sisters from Canada picked out one. There was a charm on each bracelet with the URL peacewithgod.net.

Leah the dog is checking things out. This door had hundreds of pilgrims go through it every day.

One of the pilgrims was an Episcopal priest from Ireland who asked if he could celebrate St. Michael's Day with us. He took out his priestly outfit and other items to lead us. He even did some in Irish!

Each day we welcomed pilgrims into the "garage". We provided "cafe con leche" or coffee with milk, hot tea, lemonado, clean restrooms and a friendly face.

We had a map of the North America, Europe and the entire world for the pilgrims to show us where they were from. There were more than 50 countries represented in just one week!
