A Taste of Nomadic Life
Our home was listed for sale on Thursday, today is Sunday. During the past three days Dale and I have learned how to live in our home without really living in it. Ha! We have left the house early and come back late so that potential home buyers could come and go as needed. We haven’t used any part of the house except our bedroom and bathroom. Upon waking we have a routine that resembles sanitizing a crime scene. No DNA left behind!

An Embarrassing Situation
Saturday morning we were planning to be out of the house from 10 am – 7 pm. About 10 minutes past nine I hear people talking in the living room. Dale is in the shower! I pop out of our room and the three people in our living room look up and we all laugh, a bit embarrassed by the situation. I tell them to tour the bottom floor and we’ll be out ASAP. I shut our door, yell at Dale to hurry, but I think our visitors scurried away. Whether they returned, I do not know.
During the day we visited Old Settlers Park, had lunch, went to Barnes and Noble, whatever we could find to do to pass some time. Unfortunately for Dale he is battling a pretty serious head cold. Even today, on a Sunday, we had to be out from 9 am – 6 pm. Fortunately we had church then a delicious lunch with D&A at County Line Barbeque. Then Dale and I went to B&N for an hour and edited his first drone footage. After that we went to Cinemark 14 to see “The Outfit”. Great story and acting. I wish the language had been a bit better.
An Offer we Can’t Refuse
We spoke to our realtor this afternoon and he said we should expect several offers. We have a really good offer from Friday and are prepared to accept that, but there may be other offers to consider. We are giving everyone until 10 am tomorrow to put their best offer in. I had no idea this would go so quickly. I hope it continues to go smoothly. Leaving the house at a moment’s notice is not fun.
No Place to Call Home
Even though we haven’t sold our home, we’ve already had a taste of “homelessness”. When we left the movie this afternoon I told Dale it was good to go home now that it was passed 6 pm and all visitors should be gone. Being unable to go home, hanging out in coffee shops and stores is no fun. We’ve already discussed how challenging it may be to stay in Airbnbs a month at a time. We will need to consider it our home while we are there. We plan on taking a few things to make it a little like home.
It’s funny that all of this is so out of our comfort zone. When we were younger we had no problem packing up the house and kids and moving, almost every year! No doubt that staying in one place for 22 years makes it more difficult to pull up our stakes and move on.
I guess by the end of the day tomorrow we should know what we will be selling our house for. I’m shocked that it only took one weekend, but also glad so we can continue to move forward. God has been so good to us.
