We Have an “Open House” This Evening!

UPDATE: We did not have an open house. We misunderstood our realtor’s plans. We will have one next Thursday!
Dale and I have been slowly moving forward with plans to sell our home and travel, but after today I feel like our plans are going to accelerate quickly!
Our realtor is hosting an open house from 5-7 pm this afternoon. Our home isn’t actually listed yet, it is “coming soon”. One week from today, it will be officially for sale. We will probably have another open house this weekend.
From what we understand, it isn’t that important that a lot of people come but rather just stirring the waters a bit. He also feels like we will only have to manage “walk throughs” for a couple of weeks because he expects our home to sell fairly quickly. I’m glad. Getting our house ready for potential buyers’ scrutiny is a chore.
I’m trying to imagine how all of this will go. If it is listed one week from today, and we have a good offer within two weeks, and it takes a month to “close”, we could be out of our house by the first half of May. This is a good thing. However, we will need somewhere to lay our heads until June 29 when we hit the road. We aren’t too concerned though. We have options. I originally had hoped to spend at least a couple of weeks with my grandkids, but we may have to pare that down. We received an unexpected request that changes things a bit. Dale is officiating a wedding on June 25 in Georgetown.
I’ve been keeping my eye on local Airbnb accommodations as well. It’s surprising how few there are, and how expensive. I think it would be nice to stay somewhere fun, like near a lake. We will still be attending church so we don’t want to be too far. Thankfully we will not be teaching our Bible Fellowship group too much longer. We are so thankful how God provided for this.
Did I mention we have a cat in the house? Hank, D&A’s cat, is spending a couple of days with us while they are in Houston. Hank is an awkward pre-teen. He’s bold, yet skittish; a risk-taker, yet he hides when scared. He goes where he shouldn’t, breaks what was once unbroken, and tests our boundaries regularly. He’s a spicey addition to our home prepping chores. Ha Ha.
