MacKerricher State Park – July 2023

Half way between McKinleyville and Napa we stayed the night at a California state park on the coast. State parks are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get! Haha Fortunately, this one was chocolate covered peanuts with caramel.

Pelicans were just as numerous as the seals.

Someone stacked up drift wood and made a little shelter.

We had front row seats to a wonderful sunset.

We had dinner on the beach. It was chilly and the wind made it hard for our little propane stove to heat our water.

We're just happy to be here.

The sun just about disappears.

Once the sun dipped below the horizon, the seals immerged out of their silhouette into view.

As we were leaving the beach after sunset, I turned and looked back and grabbed this shot. One of my favorites.

Some deer greet us as we walk to the shore.

There were many seals on this rock and the ones next to it. They were very tired because they hardly moved.
