Back in May 2021 I wrote a blog post titled “An Unusual Mother’s Day Weekend“, well, now it’s a fitting title for this season as well! However, thankfully, this time we don’t have any tragedies. For me, what makes it unusual is basically, we don’t have a house! This unique fact puts a whole new spin on my Christmas planning.
We are five days from Christmas. We arrived back to Texas a month ago, and during that month we have moved locations five times. We are moving again Friday, then again one week later. We should settle down a bit after that. Wouldn’t you agree that is a bit unusual? Unusual doesn’t mean bad, just different. However, I must say it’s a little hard for a planner like me, and a routine guy like Dale, but the trade off is spending time with family and friends (and cats). We are so thankful for open hearts and open homes.
Here are some highlights from our past few weeks.
Georgetown Christmas Stroll – The Town of Bethlehem is always a wonderful part of the stroll.Northstar Birthday Party – We celebrated December birthdays at Michelle’s (Dale’s sister) apartment complex. Michelle (hand over mouth) is the birthday girl at our table. She is a couple of years older than Dale.Georgetown Square – We spent a night out eating pizza and causing trouble. Ha haBaby Shower – I attended Emily’s baby shower which was held at the lovely Rising home.School Tour – Dale and I joined our daughter and grandson on a tour of the capitol. His class came down from the Dallas area. Those kids probably wondered who the two old people were lurking in the back. ha haChristmas Lights! – We had two opportunities to look at lights so far. The first time Dale and I sat in the backseat of our son’s truck while he took us on a tour. Have we already reached the stage of life where our kids are driving us around? ha haPenfold Theater production of “A Christmas Carol”. Yes, they are all women. I was surprised too.The Penfold Christmas productions are an annual event for us!Sun City Sensation – We enjoyed our second annual Christmas Event at the Matthews’ home. A lot of food and friendship!Praising our Lord – Dale joined in the worship team at Grace Bible Church in Georgetown. It was good to see him playing percussion again.
