How Great Thou Art
This past Sunday, while attending Covenant Baptist in Saco, we sang this hymn. I have been singing this hymn since I was able to sing (actually I’m still not able to sing! ha ha). Even though it is one of my favorite and most familiar hymns, it wasn’t until this past Sunday that the lyrics below meant the most to me. During the past four months the Lord has shown us his glory through some of the most beautiful landscapes I’ve ever seen. We have indeed looked down lofty mountains, felt fresh breezes and exhilarated in the beauty of the brooks and the power of the rivers.
When thru the woods and forest glades I wander
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees,
When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur
And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze,
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee;
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee;
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Carl Boberg, 1886
