We Have a Closing Date!

Hank looks wild in his homemade lawn. Why use a photo of Hank for this post? Why not?

So it really did only take one weekend to sell our home. We listed our house on a Thursday, signed a contract on the following Monday. The inspector came on Tuesday, and today, one week later, the appraiser is coming. I can’t imagine our house will appraise for the actual sale price we received but apparently the buyer is prepared to cover the difference. We give God all the glory for every blessing.

Now we have until May 12 to get out! Ha! It shouldn’t be too difficult since I have been slowly packing for the past two years. I’m hoping to host a few more events before we move out. We finish up premarital counseling with a couple this week, then next weekend is Easter. One of our friends hosted a Passover Meal at our home last year (watch the video here) and wants to do it again on Good Friday. I really enjoyed the experience and am looking forward to it. The following day, which is Saturday, I’m hoping to have a cookout and egg hunt for our family. I love coloring eggs! Plus the pool will be open. Never too early to start on the tan. Ha!

Georgetown, Here we Come

Our accommodations for the second half of May are in flux. We are blessed with friends and family who will take us in. However, we also need a place for the entire month of June since we are not leaving until the end of the month. Plus, Dale is conducting the wedding on June 25 for the aforementioned couple. Thankfully this morning I booked a place in Georgetown that is walking distance to everything I love about Georgetown. The process was a bit painful though. It was the first time I haggled with a host for a better price. He brought it down $700 once I “mentioned” we are former Marines. Plus he had no idea how expensive his place was once all the fees and taxes were added. Again, all glory to God.

Dale and I are also looking forward to having J with us as much as possible. We are hoping she will hang out with us as much as she can. If all goes according to plan, this will be her last “single” summer and we won’t have the opportunity again.

Headed to the Lake

We are also “super” excited (as so many young adults say) about spending a few days at Log Country Cove so we can celebrate birthdays and rent a boat! I was shocked that I was able to get a cabin for Memorial Day. We have had so much fun in the past renting boats here and cruising Lake LBJ. This is a great last family event before we head out. Again, all glory to God.

Our accommodations for Memorial Day.

We are thankful that God has provided someone to take our place leading the young adults at church. I’m still not sure exactly what will happen with the women’s mentoring ministry that I’ve been leading for the last two years, but I trust all will go according to God’s plan.

The only other concern I have is packing properly. What do we need on the road? I’ve watched quite a few videos on this. I think that staying a month in Georgetown will help us with figuring that out. We will be just a few miles from our storage unit if we decide we need to get something or ditch something.

This evening Dale and I are having dinner with our friends then heading to see the Round Rock Express opening night. We thought it was last night but there was no one at the Dell Diamond. I checked our tickets and we had the wrong night! Haha! So we drowned our sorrow in barbeque at Southside in Hutto. It’s supposed to get close to 96 today, I hope it cools off for the game this evening.
